Monti and mare, boyfriend and single: Sinner and Musetti, the challenge of different twins

Jannik and Lorenzo meet today (18.30) in Antwerp for the first time in an ATP tournament. Two champions with similar paths and different personalities

The golden boys of Italy, different twins of tennis, compete today in the second round of the ATP 250 in Antwerp at 18.30 (live Super Tennis). Fast indoor, land of conquest for Jannik who finds his ideal size indoors and dreams of a double after Sofia’s success 15 days ago. Sinner, who is from 2001, is number 13 in the world, Musetti, who is a year younger, is at 69, both united by a coach who is almost a family and by the residence in Montecarlo where they live a few steps away. Only one crossing in the past, in the pre-qualifiers of the Internationals in 2019. But this is the first time in an ATP tournament

Seas and mountains

Jannik left the mountains of Val Fiscalina, in Alto Adige to become a champion in the warmth of the Riviera di Ponente, in Bordighera. Lorenzo who was born in Carrara and found his tennis “home” in La Spezia. Sinner is growing up with Riccardo Piatti, a creator of champions who welcomed him as a son when he was 13, Musetti who has relied on Simone Tartarini since he was 7, also now a second father for the 19 year old number 67 in the world.

Family and work

Both come from families who know work and effort well, families. Boys different from the stereotype of the tennis player, the son of high-bourgeois families: both have always known the value of sweat and sacrifice, a lesson they have breathed in the family since birth. They started not in trendy clubs, but in country tennis. Musetti at the Municipal Police Club of Carrara, Jannik instead took his first lessons in Ortisei. Sinner has his father a cook and his mother a waitress in a refuge in the Val Fiscalina. Lorenzo’s father works in a marble quarry in Carrara, his mother is employed. Miles back and forth to take their kids to tennis lessons like thousands of families do every year.

Ski and big screen

A talent pulled from the slopes, Jannik Sinner. As a child, of course, he learned to get on the slopes. At 12 he also won the Italian title of giant, but in the end he won the love for the racket and a game that gives you more time to think: “On the track if you are wrong you are out, in tennis you always have the opportunity to overturn the situation”. Lorenzo, who loves music and cinema, as a child thought of a future as an actor: “Now I have changed my mind but the films of De Niro and Al Pacino always fascinate me”.

Milan and Juve

Also divided on the football field, although the ball is not at the center of their interests, Sinner is a Milan player while Musetti supports Juventus. Jannik during the Next Gen Finals 2019 went to San Siro together with the other protagonists of the tournament, while Musetti is a Juventus supporter but does not attend the stadium.

Boyfriend and single

Jannik Sinner has been happily engaged for about a year with the model and influencer Maria Braccini, one year older than him: “He understands my needs as a tennis player – said the number 13 in the world -. He knows that tennis at the moment is my priority is in the hand and does not put any pressure on me. ” Lorenzo Musetti, despite himself, is single. A break at the beginning of the summer that marked him not a little: “I suffered and therefore also my performance was affected. I did not want to train, I was hardly interested in tennis. But now it is much better”.
